Reread Vs. 1-5. What do we learn about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ from this admonition? What does this teach us about the relationship the Savior would like us to have with our fellowmen?

Reread Vs. 7-8. The Lord admonishes us to ask, seek, and to knock. Why do you think He uses these three different verbs? Do they mean the same thing or do they symbolize something different?

Reread Vs. 12. What does the Savior mean when He says "This is the law and the prophets"? What is one way you can apply this principle in your life this week?

Reread Vs. 11 & 14-15. Why do you think it's so important to our eternal progression to develop a forgiving heart? When someone has hurt or offended you, what are some things you can do to actively and deliberately overcome negative feelings and truly forgive the individual?

Reread Vs. 24. "No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon." What examples have you seen in your life that illustrate this principle?

Reread Vs. 33. "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." What are "all these things" for you in your life? Why is it important to put the Kingdom of God before all other things?

Reread Vs. 14-16. What is one way you can let your light shine this week? How might that cause someone to “glorify your Father who is in heaven”?

This chapter deals a lot with cleansing the inner vessel and prioritizing pure hearts and intentions in addition to righteous actions. What are some of the core motivations behind your righteous actions and the commandments you excel at keeping?

Reread Vs. 38-45. What are some examples you have seen in society or from those around you of turning the other cheek or loving one’s enemy? Why would it be important to the Savior that we learn how to do this?

Reread Vs. 3 - 7. The people of Nephi heard the voice of God three times before they “did open their ears to hear it; and their eyes were towards the sound thereof; and they did look steadfastly towards heaven, from whence the sound came.” It was only after this that they finally understood what the voice was saying to them. How can we liken this to ourselves? What personal experiences have you had that illustrate this principle?

What is your personal testimony of the Savior? How do you feel about His sacrifice for you?

Reread Vs. 29 – 30. What things can you do in your life right now to eliminate contention and increase harmony and love?

The Lord establishes his doctrine of repentance and baptism in this chapter. How would you explain these principles to a neighbor or non-LDS friend who may not understand why these are necessary components of following Christ?

Reread Vs. 13. What things in your life compete with the Lord for your thoughts and attention? What are some ways you can keep the Master more present in the "thoughts and intents" of your heart this week?

Verse 9 says "Believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend." Why is it so important for us to believe this? What blessings can come from this belief? What experiences have you had in your life that confirm this principle to you?


Reread Vs. 14-15. What family traditions or habits have you experienced in your own family or have you seen in the families of others that have been effective in helping to teach family members to "love one another and to serve one another"?

Reread Vs. 19. Rather than encouraging us to see things from the beggar's point of view or "put ourselves in the beggar's shoes," so to speak, King Benjamin draws our attention to the fact that we are, in fact, all beggars ourselves. How might this change our perception of and our behavior toward those less fortunate than us?


Reread Vs. 26-27. How do you think the Lord would have you personally strike a balance between "impart[ing] of your substance" and doing so "in wisdom and order" right now in your life?

King Benjamin admonishes his people to become "as a child." We know that children aren't always patient and willing to submit. Why do you think he chose this particular analogy?



Reread Vs. 24. Many members of Christian faith groups feel that Latter-day Saints differ from them when it comes to our beliefs about grace and works. How would you explain to a neighbor or a non-member friend our beliefs about the relationship between grace and works?

Reread Vs. 17. What does this teach us about the purpose of life and how God views his children?

Reread Vs. 32-33. Think of a contentious moment you have witnessed or experienced yourself. (Vs. 32 warning of contention) How might those involved may have been acting “contrary to [their] own knowledge” (Vs. 33) of what the Savior has taught us? How might a similar situation be improved by a Christ-like approach?
