Mosiah Chapter 4

Week of November 20 - 26, 2011

WEEKLY QUESTIONS

What verses stick out to me or would I like to remember?

What life lessons can I take from this chapter?

What does this chapter teach me about my Savior?

How can I apply what I've learned this week?

ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS TO PONDER

Verse 9 says "Believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend." Why is it so important for us to believe this? What blessings can come from this belief? What experiences have you had in your life that confirm this principle to you?

Reread Vs. 14-15. What family traditions or habits have you experienced in your own family or have you seen in the families of others that have been effective in helping to teach family members to "love one another and to serve one another"?

Reread Vs. 19. Rather than encouraging us to see things from the beggar's point of view or "put ourselves in the beggar's shoes," so to speak, King Benjamin draws our attention to the fact that we are, in fact, all beggars ourselves. How might this change our perception of and our behavior toward those less fortunate than us?

Reread Vs. 26-27. How do you think the Lord would have you personally strike a balance between "impart[ing] of your substance" and doing so "in wisdom and order" right now in your life?

Reread Vs. 19. What is one way you can "put off the natural man" this week?

King Benjamin admonishes his people to become "as a child." We know that children aren't always patient and willing to submit. Why do you think he chose this particular analogy?

Reread Vs. 24. Many members of Christian faith groups feel that Latter-day Saints differ from them when it comes to our beliefs about grace and works. How would you explain to a neighbor or a non-member friend our beliefs about the relationship between grace and works?
