ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS TO PONDER
Reread verse 4-5. The Church is structured in such a way that members meet often "that they might be remembered and nourished by the good word of God..." Much of that translates today into our church meetings, activities, and even home and visiting teaching. What difference has this component of the gospel made for you and your personal spiritual development?
Moroni outlines certain criteria that must be met before baptism can take place and in order for members to stay members of the Church. What are these criteria and why do you think these are important to the Lord?
I love this short chapter about repentance and being nourished by the good word of God.
ReplyDeleteI think it is important to realize that we all struggle with different aspects of the gospel and just life. Many of my friends assume everyone has it together but you really have no idea what is going in someone's life unless you are walking beside them. Seeing them at church or not seeing them at church doesn't really tell you anything.
I think it is so easy to think someone's life is perfect if they have OUR own personal problems solved. So if we work and really struggle with money, it is easy to assume that if someone that has a lot of money and doesn't have to work, well their life is perfect because they don't own our struggles. I think that is just part of being human.
I have close friends that struggle with so many things and most people at church have NO idea. Whether it is addiction, an abusive spouse, financial struggles, loneliness, divorce, death, or mental illness: these and many others problems exist in our ward. I love the wording in Moroni Chapter 6
"But as oft as they repented and sought forgiveness, with real intent, they were forgiven."
We can be forgiven and start a new day with the Lord. Remember the words as oft....
That is why we need to be at church. We need to take the sacrament.
"And they did meet together oft to partake of bread and wine, in remembrance of the Lord Jesus. "
One of my dear friends says, "three weeks of missing church is a sure road to apostasy." It is never too late to turn back. We need every member of our ward and we personally need to take the sacrament and repent so we can have the courage to repent and seek forgiveness or just ask for healing. We all have wounds that need healing, even if it might not look like that at church.
