How might we liken Alma's counsel to "Cast about your eyes and begin to believe in the Son ..." to ourselves today? Why do you think he chose to use the verbiage of "casting about our eyes?"

  2. 1. This chapter teaches me that God loves His children. His relationship with His children is constant, even though our relationship with Him seems to vary at times due to our mortality. I really wish that I could maintain my closeness with God. Than WE would have a better relationship. Some doctrinal misunderstandings I think keep our relationship strained. For instance, the idea in Alma 33 that one could only pray in a certain place under a certain condition may prevent that person from drawing near unto HIm and maintaining a close relationship.
    2. Something this chapter taught me about my Savior is that the Atonement provides the ability to maintain a relationship with my Father in Heaven. The phrase "for thou hast turned thy judgments away from me because of thy Son" makes me think that maybe without the Atonement, justice may prevent that relationship because we are unworthy... but the Atonement makes us worthy to pray to God at all times. Is that right? I don't know. Someone's thoughts?
    3. I think I can use the principle of faith in this chapter to improve my relationship with God. To remember that He can save Daniel in a den of lions. He can protect Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in a furnace. He can, thus, heal me by looking at a serpent on a stick.
